Dialogue Design Lectures

These are the entire lessons used for my retired course on Dialogue Design which I ran from 2022 to 2024. For currently active courses, testimonials and my credentials  follow this link.

It was designed as an advanced course and materials are presented here as they were at the moment of retirement. Which means it also includes assignments if you want to follow along. 

This theme is very dear to me as dialogue is my specialty. I didn't want these materials to disappear into the void, so here they are available to all.

"This advanced course will take dialog (or dialogue) and explore it from different angles within the interactive context. We’ll cover some character design, player involvement, dramatics of a dialog, and take on a study on bad people.  All throughout I’ll be using my framework of dialog design to guide you.

This course is aimed at narrative designers and game writers who have some experience working in games but not with dialogs. If you want to practice dialogs, struggle with them in your work, or never got a chance to write a dialog, this course is for you. This course can give you a new tool to use in your work.

The course is genre-agnostic. We’re not focusing on any specific interactive tradition here.
